    The Water Flower Expo Chengdu is situated next to a gravel extraction lake along the Mijiang river. With a capacity around 2 million visitors each year, the park combines an abundance of flowers and sustainable technology as well as the experience of water and art. Inland the park connects to the rational agricultural landstructure of parallel lines, single coloured flower fields, a stacked greenhouse and a biowaste, energy and waterpurificationpavilion enhance this connection. Towards the river, the park becomes wetter, with more diverse vegetation, and the pavilions placed more in a landscape that gradually forms toward the natural curl of the river. The spatial structure of the park is formed by treelines in combination with a main route, shaped like an infinite knot along with nine themed piers. The piers cut through the park in an undulating manner, which makes it possible to experience the park both on, up and below the vegetation- and watersurface. The pavilions are scattered throughout the entire park and they either connect to themed piers, or facilitate the park. Each pavilion distinctively anticipates function and the direct context of their surrounding landscape.
